Corea del Sur<\/a>n tribunal decidi\u00f3 el viernes prorrogar la detenci\u00f3n de la Presidenta destituida Park Geun-hye, que ha estado detenida y sometida a juicio por cargos de corrupci\u00f3n, entre ellos el de soborno.<\/p>\nEl Tribunal del Distrito Central de Se\u00fal emiti\u00f3 otra orden de detenci\u00f3n contra Park, que permite que la ex dirigente permanezca detenida hasta seis meses m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n
Park fue detenida a finales de marzo, despu\u00e9s de que el Tribunal Constitucional aprobara su destituci\u00f3n por un esc\u00e1ndalo de corrupci\u00f3n en el que se vieron envueltos Park y su antigua confidente Choi Soon-sil.<\/p>\n
Estaba previsto que la orden de detenci\u00f3n inicial finalizara el pr\u00f3ximo lunes. Seg\u00fan la legislaci\u00f3n local, un sospechoso de delito puede permanecer detenido hasta seis meses con una orden de detenci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
El tribunal fue citado por los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n locales diciendo que la detenci\u00f3n prolongada puede estar justificada y ser necesaria por \"preocupaci\u00f3n por la destrucci\u00f3n de pruebas\".<\/p>\n
Los fiscales han reclamado la pr\u00f3rroga de la detenci\u00f3n, alegando que si Park es juzgada sin detenci\u00f3n, no comparecer\u00e1 en las vistas judiciales alegando problemas de salud o preparativos para alegar.<\/p>\n
Park no hab\u00eda asistido a las vistas judiciales en varias ocasiones alegando problemas de salud, como un dolor en un dedo del pie.<\/p>\n
Los abogados de Park tambi\u00e9n solicitaron la comparecencia de numerosos testigos ante el tribunal, lo que desencaden\u00f3 cr\u00edticas de que intentaba retrasar intencionadamente las vistas con el fin de ser juzgada sin ser detenida.<\/p>\n
Con la nueva orden de detenci\u00f3n, Park puede ser detenida hasta el pr\u00f3ximo mes de abril, pero, al parecer, los fiscales planeaban completar el interrogatorio de los testigos dentro de la sala a finales del mes que viene.<\/p>\n
Para acelerar la finalizaci\u00f3n de los testimonios, el tribunal ha celebrado tres o cuatro vistas cada semana.<\/p>\n
Seg\u00fan las especulaciones de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n locales, la primera sentencia del juicio se dictar\u00e1 a finales de este a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n
La orden de detenci\u00f3n adicional se dict\u00f3 bajo la acusaci\u00f3n de aceptar sobornos de SK Group y Lotte Group, los conglomerados familiares n\u00famero 3 y 5 de Corea del Sur, respectivamente.<\/p>\n
La primera mandataria surcoreana se convirti\u00f3 en el primer presidente destituido antes de finalizar sus cinco a\u00f1os de mandato.<\/p>\n
Park fue acusada de aceptar sobornos del Grupo Samsung, el mayor chaebol de Corea del Sur controlado por una familia, de la que un heredero aparente, Lee Jae-yong, fue condenado en agosto a cinco a\u00f1os de prisi\u00f3n por soborno.<\/p>\n
Se sospechaba que Samsung hab\u00eda proporcionado fondos ilegales para un entrenamiento ecuestre de la hija de Choi, amiga de Park desde hac\u00eda d\u00e9cadas, as\u00ed como a una empresa alemana propiedad de Choi.<\/p>\n
Se sospechaba que Samsung y otros conglomerados realizaban aportaciones ilegales a fundaciones controladas por Choi a cambio de favores empresariales.<\/p>\n
Samsung hizo la mayor donaci\u00f3n a las dos fundaciones sin \u00e1nimo de lucro supuestamente a cambio de la ayuda del gobierno de Park para que Lee heredara el control de la gesti\u00f3n del Grupo Samsung de su padre Lee Kun-hee, enfermo y hospitalizado desde hace tres a\u00f1os y medio tras sufrir un infarto.<\/p>\n
Las respuestas a la detenci\u00f3n adicional de Park estuvieron divididas. El gobernante Partido Democr\u00e1tico dijo que la pr\u00f3rroga confirmaba la vigencia del Estado de derecho y de un principio.<\/p>\n
El centrista Partido Popular y el minoritario Partido Justo conservador expresaron su respeto por la decisi\u00f3n del tribunal, y el minoritario Partido de la Justicia progresista dijo que era un corolario inevitable.<\/p>\n
