La subvenci\u00f3n concluir\u00e1 en septiembre de 2026 con la entrega de una evaluaci\u00f3n de necesidades y una propuesta para apoyo adicional espec\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>El Director Ejecutivo del Ministerio de Pesca del gobierno de Tonga, Sione Vailala Matoto, dijo: &#8220;La presentaci\u00f3n de la primera notificaci\u00f3n de Tonga en virtud del Acuerdo sobre Subvenciones a la Pesca de la OMC marca un hito importante en nuestros esfuerzos de implementaci\u00f3n. Estamos agradecidos por el apoyo del Mecanismo de Financiaci\u00f3n de la OMC, el &#8220;Fondo de Pesca&#8221;, que permiti\u00f3 a Tonga realizar un taller nacional y desarrollar el primer inventario de subvenciones pesqueras de Tonga, fortaleciendo nuestra capacidad para cumplir con nuestras obligaciones en la OMC y promover la ordenaci\u00f3n pesquera sostenible.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">El Fondo de Pesca se cre\u00f3 en virtud de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wto.org\/english\/tratop_e\/rulesneg_e\/fish_e\/fish_factsheet_e.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Art\u00edculo 7 del Acuerdo sobre Subvenciones a la Pesca<\/a> proporcionar asistencia t\u00e9cnica espec\u00edfica y desarrollo de capacidades para ayudar a los miembros en desarrollo y menos adelantados a implementar el Acuerdo. Con sede en la OMC, el Fondo opera en cooperaci\u00f3n con la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentaci\u00f3n y la Agricultura (FAO), el Fondo Internacional de Desarrollo Agr\u00edcola (FIDA) y el Grupo del Banco Mundial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">La segunda convocatoria de propuestas del Fondo cerr\u00f3 el 8 de mayo y se espera que las nuevas subvenciones aprobadas se anuncien en julio de 2026. Hasta la fecha, las contribuciones y compromisos totales al Fondo de Pesca de la OMC de 18 miembros han alcanzado los 15,7 millones de CHF, equivalentes a m\u00e1s de 20 millones de USD. Los miembros contribuyentes son Australia, Canad\u00e1, la Uni\u00f3n Europea, Finlandia, Francia, Alemania, Islandia, Jap\u00f3n, la Rep\u00fablica de Corea, Liechtenstein, los Pa\u00edses Bajos,
