Saiyub est rest\u00e9 avec son ami au bord de la route, attendant de l&#039;aide. Il s'est m\u00eame vu attribuer un nom de code : <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/entertainment\/hindi\/bollywood\/news\/martin-scorseses-involvement-with-homebound-was-a-secret-makers-used-code-name-elder-brother\/articleshow\/125360656.cms\" target=\"_blank\"><u>\u00ab fr\u00e8re a\u00een\u00e9. \u00bb<\/u><\/a><\/p>   <p>C&#8217;est parce que Neeraj Ghaywan, r\u00e9alisateur de <em>Homebound, <\/em>ne voulait pas rendre public son film avant qu&#8217;il ne soit pr\u00eat. Il craignait que son histoire centrale ne soit accueillie avec hostilit\u00e9 par les m\u00e9dias indiens \u2014 par un pays \u2014 profond\u00e9ment transform\u00e9 par une d\u00e9cennie de r\u00e8gne du Premier ministre Narendra Modi et de son parti nationaliste hindou, le Bharatiya Janata Party, connu sous le nom de BJP.<\/p>   <aside id=\"ad-backstage-wrap\" class=\"ad-wrap backstage\" aria-label=\"publicit\u00e9\">\n    \n\n    \n\n\n    \n<\/aside>\n   <p>Il n&#8217;aurait pas d\u00fb s&#8217;inqui\u00e9ter.<\/p>   <p><em>Homebound, <\/em>est bas\u00e9 sur une histoire vraie : une tendre amiti\u00e9 entre deux gar\u00e7ons d&#8217;un village poussi\u00e9reux, l&#8217;un musulman ; l&#8217;autre Dalit, une caste sud-asiatique autrefois appel\u00e9e \u00ab intouchables \u00bb. Le film tourne autour de leurs tentatives \u00e9chou\u00e9es de surmonter la discrimination \u00e0 laquelle ils font face dans l&#8217;Inde d&#8217;aujourd&#8217;hui, alors que leurs vies sont boulevers\u00e9es et mises en danger par la r\u00e9ponse du gouvernement indien \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie de COVID.<\/p>   <p>\u00ab J&#8217;ai avanc\u00e9 sur ce chemin tr\u00e8s, tr\u00e8s prudemment. Il a m\u00eame atteint la prestigieuse liste restreinte \u2014 un exploit rare pour un film indien.<\/p>   <h3 class=\"edTag\">Bas\u00e9 sur une histoire vraie<\/h3>   <p><em>Homebound<\/em> est bas\u00e9 sur un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/31\/opinion\/sunday\/India-migration-coronavirus.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em><u>New York Times<\/u><\/em><u> essai<\/u><\/a> de 2020 de l&#8217;\u00e9crivain <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BasharatPeer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Basharat Peer<\/u><\/a>. Il raconte l&#8217;histoire d&#8217;une photographie devenue virale au d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie en Inde. Ils fuient les Californies pour retourner dans leurs villages. \u00bb<\/p>   <p>Des migrants sont morts en route \u2014 y compris l'homme de cette photo virale, Amrit Kumar. \u00ab Il est mort d'\u00e9puisement d\u00fb \u00e0 la chaleur, \u00bb son ami <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/31\/opinion\/sunday\/India-migration-coronavirus.html\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Mohammad Saiyub<\/u><\/a> nous raconte dans un petit salon de th\u00e9 d'un quartier bond\u00e9 de Mumbai, o\u00f9 des ouvriers \u00e9taient assis \u00e0 des tables en acier inoxydable pour boire des tasses fumantes de chai, bouilli dans une grande marmite noircie tenue par un adolescent dont le visage \u00e9tait largement enfoui dans son t\u00e9l\u00e9phone. Saiyub \u00e9tait dans la ville portuaire pour chercher du travail.<\/p>   <aside id=\"ad-third-wrap\" class=\"ad-wrap third\" aria-label=\"publicit\u00e9\">\n    \n\n    \n\n\n    \n<\/aside>\n   <p>Saiyub dit que le jour o\u00f9 cette photo a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise, lui et Kumar avaient pay\u00e9 un chauffeur de camion <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7335791\/homebound-netflix-true-story\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>l'\u00e9quivalent de 53 dollars<\/u><\/a> pour un trajet. Le chargement \u00e9tait bond\u00e9 d'autres travailleurs migrants, d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9s de rentrer chez eux. Mais Kumar a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 de la fi\u00e8vre, et le chauffeur l'a mis dehors. \u00ab Ils craignaient qu'il ait le corona, \u00bb se souvient Saiyub.<\/p>   <p>Alors Saiyub a aid\u00e9 son ami \u00e0 descendre du camion. Puis, dit-il, \u00ab le chauffeur m'a dit, monte dans le camion et on y va. \u00bb Saiyub a refus\u00e9 d'abandonner son ami. Ils se sont assis au bord de la route, attendant de l'aide. C'est alors que quelqu'un a pris leur photo. Alors que l'image se r\u00e9pandait en ligne, une ambulance a fonc\u00e9 pour les trouver.<\/p>   <p>Trop tard.<\/p>   <p>Saiyub est finalement rentr\u00e9 chez lui avec le corps de son ami. Il a creus\u00e9 la tombe de son meilleur ami. \u00ab Mon sang est celui de Kumar, \u00bb dit-il. \u00ab Et le sang de Kumar est le mien. Nous \u00e9tions amis comme \u00e7a. \u00bb<\/p>   <h3 class=\"edTag\">Un lien personnel<\/h3>   <p>Le r\u00e9alisateur Ghaywan a lu l'essai, attir\u00e9 par cette tendre amiti\u00e9 entre un musulman et un hindou dalit.<\/p>   <p>Il y avait aussi une raison tr\u00e8s personnelle pour laquelle Ghaywan \u00e9tait si touch\u00e9 : il est n\u00e9 dans une famille dalit mais a cach\u00e9 cette information pendant une grande partie de sa vie, craignant le rejet de ses pairs de caste sup\u00e9rieure s'il leur disait la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 sur qui il \u00e9tait.<\/p>   <p>Ghaywan se trouve aussi \u00eatre un enfant prodige c\u00e9l\u00e8bre \u00e0 Bollywood. Il a obtenu le soutien d'un grand studio de production pour r\u00e9aliser <em>Homebound<\/em>.<\/p>   <p>Il s'est inspir\u00e9 de ses propres exp\u00e9riences de peur et de honte en tant que dalit cach\u00e9 pour dessiner le personnage de Kumar. \u00ab Dans le film, j'ai vers\u00e9 beaucoup de ma propre honte. \u00bb Et il esp\u00e9rait humaniser une histoire rarement racont\u00e9e, sur les travailleurs opprim\u00e9s de l'Inde. \u00ab J'ai senti qu'il y avait un tremplin solide pour parler de l'Inde contemporaine, \u00bb a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Ghaywan.<\/p>   <p>Critique de cin\u00e9ma et conservatrice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/meenakshishedde\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Meenakshi Shedde<\/u><\/a> a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la d\u00e9cision de miser sur un film comme <em>Homebound<\/em> t\u00e9moignait des talents de r\u00e9alisateur de Ghaywan, et restait pourtant une sorte de \u00ab miracle. \u00bb<\/p>   <aside id=\"ad-overflow-1-wrap\" class=\"ad-wrap overflow-1\" aria-label=\"publicit\u00e9\">\n    \n\n    \n\n\n    \n<\/aside>\n   <p>\u00ab Dans l'Inde d'aujourd'hui, vous pouvez imaginer \u00e0 quel point il est audacieux pour un producteur de miser sur un film qui va \u00e0 contre-courant, \u00bb a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Shedde. Le courant auquel elle fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence est ce que Bollywood produit de plus en plus : des films qui refl\u00e8tent l'id\u00e9ologie nationaliste hindoue du gouvernement indien \u2013 avec des hommes hindous machos combattant de m\u00e9chants musulmans et de fiers Indiens luttant contre le Pakistan ennemi.<\/p>   <p>Les censeurs notoirement pointilleux de l'Inde ont approuv\u00e9 le film pour une projection dans le pays, bien qu'ils aient insist\u00e9 sur des changements qui ont diminu\u00e9 l'intensit\u00e9 de la discrimination de caste et de foi \u00e0 laquelle les protagonistes \u00e9taient confront\u00e9s. N\u00e9anmoins, Ghaywan dit : \u00ab l'\u00e2me du film est rest\u00e9e intacte. \u00bb<\/p>   <p>Et puis, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 comme entr\u00e9e officielle de l'Inde pour les Oscars.<\/p>   <p>C'\u00e9tait un choix frappant pour repr\u00e9senter l'Inde. Rien que l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, un film indien que les critiques mondiaux consid\u00e9raient comme un gagnant potentiel aux Oscars a \u00e9t\u00e9 ignor\u00e9 par le m\u00eame comit\u00e9 de s\u00e9lection. Les critiques ont sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 que c'\u00e9tait parce qu'il mettait en sc\u00e8ne une romance hindoue-musulmane torride.<\/p>   <p>(NPR a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 parler au comit\u00e9 de s\u00e9lection indien mais n'a re\u00e7u aucune r\u00e9ponse.)<\/p>   <p>Conservatrice de films <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/meenakshishedde\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Shedde<\/u><\/a> a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'elle, comme beaucoup de ses pairs, \u00e9tait abasourdie. \u00ab Comment ont-ils fini par \u00eatre la soumission de l'Inde ?
