Un suspect rwandais accus\u00e9 en lien avec le g\u00e9nocide de 1994 est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 dans un h\u00f4pital alors qu'il \u00e9tait en d\u00e9tention \u00e0 La Haye, aux Pays-Bas, a annonc\u00e9 samedi un tribunal de l'ONU, trois ans apr\u00e8s que le tribunal l'a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 inapte \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 \u00eatre jug\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Felicien Kabuga, 91 ans, \u00e9tait accus\u00e9 d'avoir encourag\u00e9 et financ\u00e9 le massacre massif de la minorit\u00e9 tutsie du Rwanda. Son proc\u00e8s a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en 2022, pr\u00e8s de trois d\u00e9cennies apr\u00e8s le massacre de 100 jours qui a fait 800 000 morts.<\/p>\n
En 2023, les juges l'ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 inapte \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 \u00eatre jug\u00e9 parce qu'il souffrait de d\u00e9mence et ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu'ils \u00e9tabliraient une proc\u00e9dure pour continuer \u00e0 entendre les preuves sans possibilit\u00e9 de le condamner.<\/p>\n
Samedi, le M\u00e9canisme international r\u00e9siduel des Tribunaux p\u00e9naux des Nations Unies a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 dans un communiqu\u00e9 que Kabuga \u00e9tait d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 alors qu'il \u00e9tait hospitalis\u00e9 \u00e0 La Haye, et que le m\u00e9decin de l'Unit\u00e9 de d\u00e9tention de l'ONU a \u00e9t\u00e9 imm\u00e9diatement inform\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Une enqu\u00eate sur sa mort a \u00e9t\u00e9 ordonn\u00e9e pour \u00e9tablir les circonstances de son d\u00e9c\u00e8s, indique le communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n
