The Case for Designing Work Around Circadian Rhythms

ALISON BEARD: I’m Alison Beard. ADI IGNATIUS: And I’m Adi Ignatius, and this is the HBR IdeaCast. ALISON BEARD: Adi, when do you do your best work? ADI IGNATIUS: I generally have a lot of projects moving forward at once. I’m tending to fires all day. It’s often at night, after hours, when I carve out time and do what’s probably my best focused work. I don’t recommend this because it eats into my so-called real life, but I do find it necessary. ALISON BEARD: Okay. So it sounds like you and I might be the same. I tend to sleep in. I wake up, I grab a coffee, and […]

Beijing’s point man on Hong Kong affairs wraps up second bay area visit in 3 weeks

Beijing’s top official overseeing Hong Kong affairs has concluded his second visit to the Greater Bay Area in three weeks, a move that analysts view as a push from the central government to speed up the city’s integration with national development. Xia Baolong, director of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, was in Guangdong province earlier this week, visiting several mainland Chinese cities in the bay area. State-run media described the four-day trip as a “research tour” covering Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou. The trip focused on supporting Hong Kong and Macau “in proactively aligning with the national 15th five-year plan, deepening their participation in the development of […]

The daring film ‘Homebound’ got Oscar buzz, is now on Netflix : NPR

Mohammad Saiyub (above, in a Mumbai quarter on a February day) appeared in a photo that went viral in the early days of the pandemic. He and his childhood buddy Amrit Kumar were hitching home, a journey of nearly 1,000 miles. Kumar, who is a Hindu Dalit, fell ill. Saiyub, a Muslim, cradled his friend by the roadside. Their different religious identities drew attention in a country where communal relations have been polarized after a decade of Hindu nationalist rule. The photo and the story behind it inspired the award-winning movie Homebound. How to Convince Your Boss They Need a Coach

There’s a paradox I’ve observed at the top of organizations: The more leaders rise through the ranks, the less candid feedback they receive. As visibility and stakes increase, so can blind spots. Peers hesitate to challenge them. Direct reports filter their feedback. Boards focus on results, not behavior. Over time, even highly capable CEOs can become insulated. #Convince #Boss #Coach

Prince Harry sued by African charity he set up to honour Princess Diana

A charity co-founded by Prince Harry in Africa to honour his late mother, Princess Diana, has sued him for defamation after he stepped down as a patron last year. Sentebale, which supports young people living with HIV in Botswana and Lesotho, filed suit last month in London’s High Court, according to court records reviewed Friday. Online filings show Harry and his friend, Mark Dyer, a trustee at the charity, are being sued for either libel or slander. No documents were available. Disagreements at the charity surfaced in 2023 over a new fundraising strategy. Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, co-founders of the charity, stepped down as patrons in March 2025. […]

When You Start to Find Employee Requests Irritating

An executive we worked with recently hadn’t even made it to his office when the requests started flooding his inbox. A conflict between colleagues. An underperformer wanting to discuss a promotion. An ask for approval to attend a conference that felt only loosely related to the work. And one message that simply read “Do you have a minute?”—the kind that can turn your calendar into triage. #Start #Find #Employee #Requests #Irritating
