If the proposal is implemented, it would \u200dbuild on Trump\u2019s earlier efforts to shrink the size of the federal government.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Trump has made mass sackings \u200dof government employees a centrepiece of his second term. At the same time, he has undermined avenues for those same workers to dispute their dismissals, including by \u200cfiring members of government offices that enforce job protections for federal employees.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The Merit Systems Protection Board, the organisation \u200dlisted in Monday\u2019s proposal, mediates disputes between federal workers and their employers.
